201005 New York Scenes including visit to Highline Park

I had three celebrity sightings when I was there this time.  Anderson Cooper was eating at Chat & Chew near Union Square, one of my old hangouts.  He was with the Parisian guy who is reputed to be his boyfriend (I later saw a link and verified his identity).  I also saw Kristin Wiig at the former Dugout/Rock Bar, making out with a woman.  She was already my favorite SNL cast member at the moment.  Now she really is!  Lastly I saw Michael Musto at the Urban Bear Weekend fair.  He’s a Village Voice columnist who I used to see around town all the time.

It was so great to see many old friends, but I did neglect to photograph a few special people, including Laura Yellon, Chris Cintron, Ted Habza and David A. Garcia, who I made sure to spend time with as they went out of their way to make sure they saw me.  Here are pictures of the various events and people I saw, including my first look from the High Line Park, which I thoroughly enjoyed.

There is both a video and a gallery here to check out:

That Rekers (like oxidized hypocrisy)!

I’m so reveling in the PERFECT HYPOCRITE squirming like a maggot:  “Rentboy.com Rekers” testified against gay parents because of neurotic suppression of his own gayness! Wake up people!

I can’t find anything online yet re Rekers’ wife; was she at home during this ten day trip to Europe with rentboy? What about all of his other “assisted” vacations?  UPDATE:  So now it is clear what Rekers was trying to protect in part:  he has a wife and sons (presumably grown) and he has finally admitted to some weaknesses and getting spiritual help that he needs, even though he’s clinging on to the claim that he was able to “counsel” his rentboy on being saved (presumably while he was enjoying the mandated naked massages that he insisted on paying for daily).

The lawyer in me cannot fathom how Rekers could be SO DUMB as to put his “contract” expecting intimacy in writing!  I believe they showed the document, with Rekers’ real name no less, in the CNN interview video with the waif, who was probably the one who provided it to them. I guess Rekers needed it in writing because was concerned he wouldn’t get his $75 worth every single day of his trip! I do not believe it required a happy ending!

At least SOME of the fortune Florida paid Rekers for his bigotry&self-loathing streams back to the community through his string of rented twinks, right?

RIP Lena Horne

I was on one of her email fan lists for years and I remember what an impression she made on me when she appeared on the Cosby Show.  I wasn’t fully familiar with her accomplishments at the time, but talk about a class act and a decent, long life.  I’ve thought about her often in recent years and knew that she was no young whippersnapper.  I listen to her regularly on my Ipod, and I know what an inspiration she was to many.  What a gorgeous, amazing, talented lady.

Flake much?

Three people today admitted that primary email address in their profiles is not read or directed to spam, then they complain if they don’t hear from me!  Am I the last person in the world who uses real email and can give people the expectation that I will read what is delivered to my life-long email addresses?

Family in Phoenix & Sedona, Arizona – May 1-3, 2010

My niece Kristal lives in Phoenix.  We had lunch last Saturday morning at Thefarmatsouthmountain.com, an organic farm with three restaurants, including a breakfast cafe, where we ate al fresco.  It was conveniently located between her place and where I was staying with friends in Laveen.

Then, on Monday, we drove up to see Uncle Danny Stief (of Sedonatalkradio.com).  He gave us a great tour of that stunning area, explaining to us about the vortexes and other metaphysical anomalies in the area (making Kristal’s name quite appropriate).  We had lunch and then Kristal and I drove back to Phoenix in time for me to catch my flight back to San Francisco.  On the way to Sedona, however, Kristal and I were talking so much that I forgot to get gas, and so to be sure we didn’t have to walk in the desert heat, I let the car coast down a mountainside for about eight miles to get to the next town to fill up!

Sedona is magnificent everywhere you look, with it’s vortexes and it’s manmade and natural monuments.  It was great to see my uncle, who is a talented singer, and touched Kristal and me with a few live performances of Elvis songs.  It was the first time Kristal and he met each other, so I was glad to facilitate their meeting and for us all to learn more about other parts of our family.

I’m also glad to have a nice base tan from Arizona last week for the two weekends in NYC I’m going to enjoy later this month!
