Much has changed on Christopher Street since I moved away from NYC, but I still have a ton of nostalgia for this area which was so formative in my coming out process. I still feel a sense of strong envy for those who live in such a dynamic area and in the amazing buildings that will survive centuries more than they already have. Fortunately the streets were closed for a vendor fair when I waltzed down and took this video with my friend Steve.
With the encouragement of friends and help from some people on TaskRabbit, I’m getting the backyard to be more functional. I’m still tossing around ideas and not complete with where I want it to be, but to show the progress and some of the ideas I am working on, I thought I’d document the progress here. I’m not completely happy with the grass “rugs,” but they were inexpensive and may function for a while to increase the usefulness of the backyard. I have a potting bench I have to put together and I’m going to get my gazebo reinforced and a hot tub cover valet installed.
I don’t know what was in the air, but I have pictures of BOTH of them coincidentally sticking their tongues out at me! They were nervous (Cappy was actually shaking) but I couldn’t resist putting them in the wagon I got for the leaves.
All of these ingredients are healthy and the combo was guilt-free heaven. The next time I have a family event I want to make something like this in large numbers and I’ll take a picture.
