With the encouragement of friends and help from some people on TaskRabbit, I’m getting the backyard to be more functional. I’m still tossing around ideas and not complete with where I want it to be, but to show the progress and some of the ideas I am working on, I thought I’d document the progress here. I’m not completely happy with the grass “rugs,” but they were inexpensive and may function for a while to increase the usefulness of the backyard. I have a potting bench I have to put together and I’m going to get my gazebo reinforced and a hot tub cover valet installed.

Baked Pear Recipe
All of these ingredients are healthy and the combo was guilt-free heaven. The next time I have a family event I want to make something like this in large numbers and I’ll take a picture.
- Wash then cut the pears in half long ways
- pit them, removing the stem, etc.
- sprinkle a little cinnamon on
- put a few drops of TRUFFLE oil in each pit
- bake pit-up at 400 degrees for one hour on foil
- spread almond butter over side with pit
- use cool plain yogurt as a dipping sauce

Attended See All About It – Vivian Maier’s Newspaper Portraits
My daughter, who lives in Berkeley, and I were invited by my friend, a son of the late philanthropists, to see this exhibit and attend this event. We heard from two biographers of Vivian Maier who know about this story of her posthumous fame, mostly through the internet. She died in 2009 and only now are we appreciating what a prolific and talented photographer she was, despite what many would consider a rather unremarkable life that she led. This was presented by the Reva and David Logan Gallery of Documentary Photography at the UC Berkeley School of Journalism.
