Friday night was a Vallejo Art Walk and Visions of the Wild art was on display. My friend Steven Davis had a few entries among the gorgeous environmentally-themed art. We also stopped by the Townhouse for a drink for a lovely and balanced night out in Vallejo.

Dogs September 2024
Happy National Bald is Beautiful Day on September 13!
Here’s Bonnie’s first trip to Wardlaw Dog Park. She did very well and only growled once at nothing when she was lying under the chair I was sitting in. She got along fine with all the dogs and a couple of people tapped her on the head before I could forewarn them that she might be startled, which made me so nervous, but no drama!

International Literacy Day Party-Fundraiser
We were honored to be included in Maus’ International Literacy Day Party. It was a fundraiser for a local literacy program and simultaneously in support of Vallejo’s own Alibi Bookstore. It’s always a treat to visit Maus House and you can always count on there being the most interesting people present.
Karen Finley, the blue-haired owner of Alibi Bookstore, wrote: “In honor of International Literacy Day, my sweet friend Maus von Trappe had a party/ fundraiser for the bookstore, which raised $300! We’re giving the funds to Another Chapter to buy books for kids who need them — and literacy. It’s a win win! They get books, we get to sell books, and I got to spend this beautiful, warm night with beautiful, warm people having conversations at Maus’s magical fairy house. I was in heaven, and it boosted my spirits like you wouldn’t believe. Sometimes the world just feels so icky and overwhelming, but then something like this happens, and reaffirms my faith in good humans. God, I love Vallejo. And Maus. I thank you, I thank you. ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️”
Snoopy, Visiting Dogs and Me
Chocolate chihuahua mix Moe was fostered for a few days and 15-year-old Bentley was back for another dogsitting episode. Snoopy and I joined them in the backyard while Bonnie stubbornly stayed inside.
Rental Garden Upkeep
I had to raise the Spanish Moss because the squirrels were brazenly harvesting it for their nesting, I presume. To preserve some of the decorations I hung some of them up, as I’ve lost so many things bringing them back and forth to my home under renovation.
Sunday Subbing for Men’s Rowing Team
Sunday morning row with my new Cultivate Food Co-op shirt. It was overcast and a touch cooler than yesterday, but the water was a LOT calmer and lake-like.
Food Co-op Potluck in Benicia
Shea’s leek and zucchini frittata was popular at the Cultivate Community Food Co-op potluck we attended at a home on the highest hill in Benicia (gorgeous views of a huge). The former mayor of Benicia was there, as well as many advocates for fresh food and the efforts to create a food co-op here in our area. For more information check out Cultivate Community Food.
Incredible panorama from fellow food co-op owner at the top of Benicia:
Happy birthday Mary Frances!
Squirrel Battles
Not sure what the squirrel wants from the Spanish Moss but nesting material, but this one seems determined, yet there’s a whole area full of Spanish Moss that he’s completely ignoring.
Snoopy followed by foster Moe checks out the taunting squirrel yet along, but the squirrel doesn’t give a fuck.
