Sustainable Solano did a wonderful cooking event with locally sourced foods for Cultivate Community Food Cooperative (CCFC) last night in Benicia. Ask me about becoming an owner as we try to grow CCFC to build a brick-and-mortar local food co-op! In addition to the gorgeous salad you can see below, we also had potato gnocchi with the freshest broccoli and garlic.
Fourteen CCFC owners were treated to a cooking demo by Chef Stephanie Jordan, Program Mgr., Sustainable Solano.
Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) was also an important topic of discussion.
Cultivate Community Food Co-op is a mouthful, but what a great idea. I’ve been an owner for several years and look forward to that investment paying off in time.
Shea’s leek and zucchini frittata was popular at the Cultivate Community Food Co-op potluck we attended at a home on the highest hill in Benicia (gorgeous views of a huge). The former mayor of Benicia was there, as well as many advocates for fresh food and the efforts to create a food co-op here in our area. For more information check out Cultivate Community Food.
Incredible panorama from fellow food co-op owner at the top of Benicia:
After a day by the pool in Sacramento, good friends and Ethiopian food, which I had not had since before Covid. It was William and Johnny’s first time having it, and they loved it!
Barbara took me to Manny’s Steakhouse on Napa River in downtown Vallejo. I love the location, which is new to this restaurant and I was happy to see some excellent vegetarian menu choices. I had the spinach ravioli alfredo with mushrooms and cheesy garlic bread.
I’ve never had a trauma like this fire before. I’ve also never been this low weight in my adulthood. It’s hard to remember to eat when I’m barely sleeping and I have so much on my mind, not to mention a lot of nightmares. It’s hard to create rituals when things are moving so fast and I have found I have so little control over my destiny, especially in this period of my life.
Having been together almost ten years, five of those years have been as husbands. We ended up dining at Bella Siena in Benicia. It was surprisingly busy for the middle of the week.
