Brought the dogs to my friend Peter Herman’s amazing backyard. Got some great hot tub in while the dogs explored a novel place for them. Had great music and snacks and great company practicing my Spanish and teaching him a bit of Italian. I’m so lucky to have him as a friend through these tough times especially. I’ll certainly appreciate my hot tub when I get home to Wellfleet Drive again.
I’m very pleased with how some of my selfies turned out, and also glad I didn’t drop my phone in the water!
It was very difficult to imagine attending this, but I was implored to do so. The community was wonderful to me and it was a good chance to see a lot of friends only three days after the worst day of my life. My ex had flown back for a few days to help me out and to ensure that I was not left alone in the early days, so it was somewhat awkward to explain he had moved away nine days before the fire.
Thanksgiving pies included key lime, sweet potato, and cherry apple. We joined Greg and Steve for dessert, together with Steve’s brother and girlfriend, Vince and Jillian, visiting from Vermont. We learned how to play an Uno-like game called Mexican Train.
Our neighbors and friends, William and Patrick, both of whom I had known for years before moving to Vallejo, invited us over to their fabulous place. William graciously offered to give me a bunch of clippings soon too!
John and Harvey and I go back decades. They were my upstairs neighbors in Brooklyn at one point and moved back to California after years in New York City within months of me while either of us knowing the other was moving. I have since seen them many times in the Bay Area and in various parts of southern California. Harvey took most of these pictures, so unfortunately we have any with him!
