It was in the 90’s Fahrenheit when we started to row at 6 pm, but it cooled down to 89 by the time we finished. We got to see a gorgeous sunset, but despite the water being glass, there was quite a current we had to fight to get back to the marina.
The last few pictures are courtesy of rowing mates.
Today I subbed for the men’s team so I got footage of the women’s team kicking butt.
Sunday morning row with my new Cultivate Food Co-op shirt. It was overcast and a touch cooler than yesterday, but the water was a LOT calmer and lake-like.
Double rowing this morning kicked my ass, but it felt great to get a serious workout. We got some closeups of the train through Crockett and the C&H Sugar Factory with the docked ship.
About 7 am there was a fire in a boat at Glen Cove Marina as we were getting ready to go out with the whaleboats. People were asleep inside, but fortunately, the battery that caught fire did not hurt anyone as far as we could tell in the end. The couple in the boat only bought it a few months ago. I don’t know what damage was done, but I’m glad we were up and rowing nearby to smell and see the smoke. The fire truck arrived after we called 9-1-1. Solano Rowing Club saves the day!
Double row this morning, including a choppy “skills” row with Shea in the boat. I was Port Stroke, which was I think the first time ever in that position. We made it most of the way across the Carquinez Strait to the C&H Sugar Factory.
