Diaspora – Such as my Haitian friends in New York.

American Idol returned tonight
I feel a bit hoodwinked that Ellen Degeneres wasn’ there from the onset, but I guess the announcement that she was on the show wouldn’t have been there in time for the first recordings. I guess she isn’t going to start until the live shows commence? That was not made clear to me; there wasn’t all that much talent yet, but many of the guys were hot. It was strange to predict their ages so inaccurately, though. Some of the women were beautiful, but not that many had the chops. I hope they’re holding out on us, because last year became unwatchable for me and I totally lost my interest in it.
New Technology at work and home
So my firm is providing me with a MacBook for cross-training, and we’ll be getting Fusion and SnowLeopard 10.6 as the operating system. Should be cool using a Mac on a regular basis for the first time in about 15 years.
I’m LOVING WordPress! I’m so glad my co-worker told me about this. It will improve my life and my personal site and now I’m just using Dreamweaver for Quality Assurance. Every day I am learning new things about how to use the many features and it’s going much more efficiently than I could have imagined, without the need for reinventing the wheel.
On a more frustrating note, Pidgin.im was upgraded today, but before and after the upgrade, none of my AIM or ICQ accounts seems to be working!
Protected: Probably Moving in the Next Few Months
So it looks like we may have to relocate because the landlords are going through bankruptcy, divorce and foreclosure and the bank is already the new owner for a while now of the place we live in. The important thing is that my daughter finish her high school year, but we are seriously considering parts of the East Bay closer to San Francisco that might work better for us, like Emeryville. We’ve done some cursory review, but part of the appeal is that it would be more urban, a shorter commute, would be convenient if she ended up going to Berkeley after two years at JC, it’s exactly 22.1 miles from there to Danville, where my sister lives, and 22.1 miles to southern Hayward, where my Mom lives (in another direction).
Various challenges include what to do with my hot tub, which I’ve only had for a year and a half.
There is a small possibility that my mother’s fiancé may be interested in buying the house, in which case, I would be able to stay there and not have to go through all of this drama, but I can’t count on that unlikely contingency.
Friday evening
Had a nice, short evening with friends Mike (dinner at Harvey’s) and Starbears with Mike and Ric. I stopped by 440, but the headed back to the East Bay. Nice guy on BART with a T-mobile Android system phone asked me about my Droid. Happy that there is very little chance of rain tomorrow.
New look for Haydennet.com thanks to WordPress
I’m very excited to learn about this new program. Make sure to check back for lots of more easily navigable content and updates in the coming weeks!
So my Yorkie loves squirt guns like a labrador; he runs for the spray; video to be posted soon.
Loving the juicer my brother gave me; got lots of citrus from mom’s backyard to test it with.
New Years/New Decade
Went to a very nice party at my friend’s house in Berkeley for the countdown last night. Hopefully will get pictures soon.
Glad it’s not raining as I heard was predicted; heading to party in Berkeley for the beginning of another new decade.
